The bride wore black! 90210’s Shenae Grimes married Josh Beech last week in a black wedding gown from Vera Wang’s 2012 collection Heavily Black. An open back, beautiful black lace halter bodice and a floaty ethereal bottom completed the look.

The designer black gown made quite the statement, but Shenae isn’t the first to don a dark frock. Fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker made the same choice in 1997. A black gown can offer a dark and mystical allure, and can make a lasting impression.  This gown, by Monique Lhullier, retainsa lady like silhouette despite the shadowy tone. The stunning all over texture also makes a gorgeous addition.

If you’re not prepared to commit to a full black look but still want some dark details perhaps this Maggie Sottero gown from 2013 bridal fashion week is just right. A few black flourishes add a bold touch without taking over.

If neither option seems right for you but you still crave a touch of black, NK24508-B, 14K black gold band with 21 black diamonds wrapping around your finger may be the best choice. You can still grace the aisle with in a white gown but exhibit your distinctively unique sensibility with a full black band.
